Yes, the story on our candy packaging is true! 

When our founder, Chris, was three years old she packed her little pink suitcase and headed out the front door with the grand intention of moving to the most beautiful place on earth – the candy store! Well, really it was a variety store, complete with popcorn, toys, clothes and a pet department that sold monkeys! No, our founder is not 90 years old, those fantastic variety stores still existed in Wisconsin in the 1970s. 

Anyway, she headed out the door with her little suitcase and made it all the way to the corner before her mother noticed she was missing. The corner happened to be a busy street that she was not allowed to cross alone. Her mother found her waiting there and brought her back home. 

What Chris actually put in the suitcase is lost to history, as is the reason she set off in the first place. What has never been lost is her love of candy, which inspires all of her whimsical creations.

Also not lost is the little pink suitcase. This really is it!
